Front Porch: Smashing Pumpkins coming to Comcast Arena

The Smashing Pumpkins announced Monday plans to kick off its U.S. tour Oct. 10 at Comcast Arena at Everett.

The Grammy-award-winning band, which formed in Chicago in 1988 and sold more than 30 million records, plans to perform songs from their recently released album, Oceania, for the first half of the show and then play classics in the second half.

Tickets cost $49.50 or $39.50. They are on sale Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Everett box office for Comcast Arena, at www.comcastarenaeverett.com, or by calling 866-332-8499. All tickets are subject to agency fees, with a limit of eight tickets per buyer.

Calling all corgis: The seventh annual Corgi Funday is planned from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

All corgis are welcome.

There will be games, demonstrations, agility equipment as well as a raffle, ribbons and prizes. The cost is $5. Lunch is provided, but donations are accepted.

It’s an opportunity for corgi owners to meet others and share information.

Reading with Rover: Read aloud to a canine listener at the Snohomish Library at 11 a.m. Saturday,311 Maple Ave., Snohomish.

The community-based literacy program, Reading with Rover, aims to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.

The event is free, but caregivers need to stay with their children.
