A seminar scheduled Tuesday in the Lowell neighborhood includes a discussion of the adjacent Snohomish River’s runoff, as well as local riverbank and channel issues.
The talk by resident Alex Alexander is part of a series of seminars called “Ice, Wood and Water” during the historic neighborhood’s 150th anniversary.
Tuesday’s presentation is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lowell Community Church, 5216 S. Second Ave.
It’s free and open to the public. Coffee and refreshments will be available.
Know a business that’s making a difference?: Nominate a business — large or small — to be honored for making a difference in the community. It could be the volunteer help it provides on projects or the money it donates to good causes. Deadline is Aug. 31.
Nomination forms can be found on the Secretary of State’s website at http://tinyurl.com/n3xxhk9.
Secretary of State Kim Wyman will choose one large and one small corporation from among the public’s nominations.
Her selections will receive a National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion, the highest civics honor that the state awards.
