MUKILTEO — Police in Mukilteo are planning a community fundraiser to help a little girl with a life-threatening illness.
Aylin Bustos, a third-grader at Endeavour Elementary School, will be the police chief on Aug. 16. She is suffering from brain lesions and an arachnoid brain cyst.
This is the Mukilteo Police Department’s third year participating in the “Chief For a Day” program, officer Cheol Kang said. They also invite their little chief to community events throughout the year.
A fundraiser to support the program is planned for 6 p.m. March 23 at the Harbour Pointe Golf Club.
There will be a live band and presentations about the Chief For A Day program, Kang said. Officers are hoping Bustos will be able to visit the event before her bedtime.
Tickets are $20 and include appetizers. A full menu and drinks will be available for purchase.
There also will be a free shuttle ride home for attendees who live in the Mukilteo area, Kang said.
“It’s a great time to be able to not only have a good time but knowing that what you donate your money and time for is a good cause,” he said.
Tickets are available at the following locations: Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce, 4902 76th St. SW; Mukilteo Police Department, 10500 47th Place W; Matt Martin State Farm Insurance, 12308 Mukilteo Speedway No. 4; and Papa Murphy’s, 12721 Mukilteo Speedway.
