TULALIP — Firefighters on Saturday rescued two girls stranded about 40 feet up a steep slope above Mission Beach on the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
One of the girls had broken a leg and couldn’t make it back down the bluff. Crews climbed to her, placed the girl in a special rescue basket and lowered her to the beach, Tulalip Bay Deputy Fire Chief Rob Johnson said.
From there, she was taken by all-terrain vehicle to a waiting ambulance about a mile down the beach. Crews took the girl to a local hospital. An update of her condition wasn’t immediately available Saturday evening.
The other girl was able to walk down with the assistance of firefighters from Tulalip Bay and Everett. Tulalip Tribal police officers also assisted in the hour-long rescue.
No other injuries were reported.
