TACOMA — The driver of a car that crashed while fleeing a Tacoma convenience store with stolen beer pleaded guilty Thursday to vehicular homicide for the crash that killed two friends.
Nineteen-year-old Raymond Joseph Lewis was sentenced to three years in prison at an emotional hearing with nearly 100 people in the Pierce County courtroom.
Lewis also pleaded guilty to attempting to elude police July 31 when he lost control of his car. The crash killed 22-year-old James Paggeot and 21-year-old Walter Corey.
The News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/18X3bLq ) the mother of one of the victims, Janice Paggeot, asked the judge for leniency. She said Lewis is a good person who made a mistake that should not ruin the rest of his life.
