LAKE STEVENS — Police and fire crews promise learning and fun for those who attend the annual Health &Safety Fair in Lake Stevens this weekend.
The family-friendly event is free and will include a variety of safety-themed activities and displays, said Laana Larson, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
“Our hope is that people will come to get informed about basic health and safety tips for life,” she said.
More than 40 vendors are expected to participate. There also will be a raffle for prizes for people who try to visit all of the booths, Larson said.
“It is wonderful to see so many community groups coming together with citizen safety and education being top priority,” Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori said.
The fair is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Albertson’s parking lot, 303 91st Ave. NE, Lake Stevens.
A special bullying-prevention presentation is planned from 10 to 11 a.m.
People also will be able to check out police and fire department vehicles and learn about fire safety.
Fire district folks always are excited to see how many more families each year already have a fire escape plan, Larson said. They also like to remind people to practice those escape plans and have a family meeting place in case of an emergency.
Other safety topics at the fair are set to include boating, pets, hygiene and fitness. There also will be activities for children, such as a bounce house, fishing and face-painting.
