Whidbey Island Naval Air Station welcomes home Rooks squadron

Electronic Attack Squadron 137, the “Rooks,” reunited with family this past week after eight months aboard the USS Enterprise.

The combat deployment was the last cruise for the aircraft carrier and the last for the Rooks as an EA-6B Prowler squadron.

The squadron left in March to provide support for coalition forces in Afghanistan. The squadron earned two Top Hook awards for the best overall landing grades on the aircraft carrier.

Also, in the cramped confines of the ship and the searing 148-degree summer heat of the Middle East, the crew kept the jets airborne.

The Rooks now begin the transition to the EA-18G Growler.
