Navy Cmdr. Donald M. Foss, commanding officer of the Everett-based frigate USS Ford, has been relieved by Cmdr. Joseph T. Shuler. Foss served on the Ford since 2009. Shuler, a native of Bellevue, served as Ford’s executive officer for more than a year before taking command. He also served as the chief engineer aboard the Everett-based frigate USS Rodney M. Davis.

Army Spc. Daniel Cope has been promoted to the job of Internment Resettlement (MP) Specialist 31E. Cope is the son of Mike and Chris Cope of Edmonds. A 2007 Meadowdale High School graduate, he joined the Army in 2010. Cope is stationed at Camp Humphrey, South Korea.

Navy Seaman Dalston Byrd was promoted to his current rank while attending recruit training in Great Lakes, Ill. He graduated from basic training in September and was assigned to Pensacola, Fla., where he is training to be an air traffic controller. A 2012 graduate of Jackson High, he is the son of Cindy and David Byrd of Bothell. His older brother, Zach Byrd, a 2011 Jackson graduate, is assigned to the USS Green Bay, currently deployed to the Middle East.

Air Force Airman Valarie A. Anderson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Anderson is the sister of Mandy Davila of San Antonio. She is a 2008 graduate of Sultan High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Ross A. Brosemer graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Brosemer is the son of Nancy Brosemer of Mukilteo. He is a 2008 graduate of Kamiak High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Sara Rodriguez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Rodriguez is the daughter of Ruben Rodriguez of Yelm. She is a 2009 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Army Pvt. Erik P. Cairus has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Cairus is the son of Patrick Cairus and Amanda Dietzman, both of Stanwood. He is a 2011 graduate of Stanwood High School.

Air Force Airman James D. Bryant graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Bryant is the son of Bobbie Bryant and Garland Bryant, both of Lake Stevens. He is a 2007 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Air Force Airman Jacob E. Burdsall graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Burdsall earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Joel Burdsall of Mesa, Ariz. The airman is a 2006 graduate of Snohomish High School. He earned an associate degree in 2007 from Anthem College, Phoenix, Ariz.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Barrett M. Rayan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Rayan is the son of Peri Schwald of Kihei, Hawaii, and great grandson of Mickey Schwald of Mountlake Terrace. He is a 2010 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School.

Army Pfc. Ryan J. Feiock has graduated from the fire support specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Feiock is the son of Steve and Kathleen Feiock of south Snohomish County. He is a 2011 graduate of Jackson High School, Mill Creek.
