Air Force Senior Airman Brennen Cornett, stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, has been awarded 2011 Pacific Air Command Firefighter of the Year honor. Cornett is attending leadership school and is set be promoted to the rank of staff sergeant. Cornett is a crash rescue crew chief who works as a fire training officer. He is to be reassigned in November to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, for his third overseas tour since joining the Air Force in 2008. Brennen, a 2003 Stanwood High School graduate, joined the fire service in September 2003. He earned an associate degree in technical arts of fire science at Everett Community College while working part-time for Camano Island Fire &Rescue and the Stanwood Fire Department. His parents are Laurel and Brad Niven of Camano Island and Mike and Carol Cornett of Lake Stevens.
Navy Airman Gary M. Huehnerhoff, son of Joan Huehnerhoff and Robert Huehnerhoff, both of Arlington, recently reported for duty with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28, at Cherry Point, N. C. Huehnerhoff is a 2005 graduate of Lakewood High School.
