OLYMPIA — State Supreme Court Justice Gerry Alexander is returning to private practice next year after serving as a judge for more than 38 years.

He’s leaving the state Supreme Court at the end of the year because he has reached the mandatory retirement age of 75.

The Olympian reports Alexander is joining the Olympia law firm of Bean, Gentry, Wheeler &Peternell and plans to offer mediation, arbitration and consulting work on appellate court briefs.

Alexander made the announcement Wednesday night at a retirement celebration in the Temple of Justice attended by more than 400 friends and colleagues.
