King County sheriff accused of ethics violations

SEATTLE — The King County Ombudsman’s Office says Sheriff Steve Strachan (stran) committed minor ethics violations by campaigning in uniform.

The office said he appeared in uniform on his campaign website and wore his uniform to a Republican Party picnic.

Strachan told The Seattle Times that ethics are very important to him and he wants to make sure he does this right.

Strachan was appointed sheriff after Sue Rahr left earlier this year. He’s running for election against retired sheriff’s Sgt. John Urquhart, the former spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
