LAKE STEVENS — A man armed with a shotgun came looking for the Lake Stevens man in July.
The Lake Stevens man, 36, didn’t call police to report it.
Instead, he went into hiding and lost his job when he stopped showing up for work.
As it turned out, the man with the shotgun wasn’t the only one interested in tracking him down.
Snohomish County detectives also became interested in his whereabouts.
The man on the lam was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Tuesday after being arrested for investigation of three counts each of voyeurism and possessing sexually explicit depictions of a child. The girl had been secretly recorded getting into and out of a shower.
On Wednesday, an Everett District Court judge set bail at $500,000 and ordered that the man have no contact with children or access to the internet.
Deputies were called to a home where the man had been living near Lake Stevens on July 23. At the time, they were responding to reports of a disturbance involving the suspect and his girlfriend’s brother.
The woman’s brother reportedly arrived with a shotgun and kicked in the front door while demanding to see the suspect.
The Lake Stevens man drove off and the woman’s brother “reportedly fired two rounds” toward the vehicle, according to court records.
The brother and sister told deputies they’d discovered the man had been secretly taking videos of the woman’s 11-year-old daughter while the girl showered and changed clothes.
The mother confronted her boyfriend, who allegedly threatened to harm her if she reported the videos to police. The woman consulted co-workers and family, which led to her brother’s reported attempt to confront the suspect, court papers said.
Deputies recovered three video files taken of the girl. The suspect’s face and a distinctive arm tattoo reportedly appeared at the beginning of each video, according to court papers. The suspect allegedly told police he’d been “hiding out” on Whidbey Island since the July 23 confrontation.
