OLYMPIA — Lt. Gov. Brad Owen will lead a weeklong trade mission to Taiwan to sign a reciprocal driver license agreement and promote Washington state seafood and agricultural products.
Owen will be joined by Sens. Ann Rivers, Sharon Nelson, Curtis King, Kevin Ranker, and Rep. Luis Moscoso, as well as members of the Puyallup Tribe.
The delegation is also set to meet with government officials and others.
The group leaves Saturday and will return June 27.
The license agreement will allow Taiwan nationals who live in Washington state to skip the driving and written portion of the state driver licensing exam if they are already licensed to drive in Taiwan. Washington residents living in Taiwan will be given the same option. Washington state has similar agreements with British Columbia, Korea and Germany.
Owen’s office says the government of Taiwan is paying the cost of delegation’s trip.
