GRANITE FALLS — A 61-year-old man was accidentally shot in the shoulder early Tuesday in Granite Falls.
Another man, 35, was inspecting a rifle in a home along Gun Club Road. The rifle went off around 12:30 a.m., said Shari Ireton, a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
There was no altercation between the two leading up to the shooting, Ireton said.
The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Several adults and a child were inside the home when the gun fired, Ireton said. No one else was hurt.
Two women, ages 24 and 36, and the man who was handling the gun stayed at the house to talk with detectives.
A .22-caliber rifle was recovered as evidence.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
