SNOHOMISH — A Snohomish-area man has been arrested for investigation of second-degree assault after allegedly punching an 86-year-old woman in the face, according to court papers.

The man, 58, allegedly hit her with a closed fist, causing her to fall down and pass out, according to an affidavit written by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman refused treatment, although medics suggested she get stitches and were concerned about the possibility of a head injury and internal bleeding.

The woman said the man had been drinking and became angry when friends came over to check on her welfare. She said she was assaulted around 5 a.m. Tuesday.
