EVERETT — A man survived being attacked with a hammer at an Everett-area apartment Monday night, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Hours earlier the man’s girlfriend had accused him of cheating on her. She called another man, 21, to come over and “deal with” the man around 11 p.m., according to police reports filed in court Tuesday. The man arrived and told the boyfriend to leave the home. The boyfriend asked if he could grab his wallet and phone, and the visitor responded by grabbing a hammer and hitting him at least twice on each arm, police reported.
The man followed the boyfriend to the parking lot, where he demanded his watch and necklace. A neighbor called 911, saying the man’s injuries were so serious he might die.
Deputies used a loudspeaker to try to get the alleged attacker and the girlfriend to come out. They wouldn’t answer. Police forced their way in to arrest the suspect for investigation of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
A hammer was found inside the apartment.
