Man fatally assaulted at park near Selah

SELAH — A Yakima County sheriff’s officer says an autopsy has determined that a man fatally assaulted at a park near Sela died of severe blunt force head trauma.

Sheriff’s Chief of Detectives Robert Udell identified the victim Tuesday as David S. Johnson, 54.

The sheriff’s office says the man and a 51-year-old woman were at Harlan Landing Park near the Yakima River on Monday afternoon when she found he had been assaulted.

He was taken to Yakima Regional Medical Center where he died.
