OKANOGAN — The state Fish and Wildlife says a man used doughnuts and food scraps to draw bears close to his cabin near Winthrop.

Officer Dan Christensen told KING-TV that James Erickson and family members and friends would shoot bears from a chair off the back of the cabin.

The 52-year-old pleaded guilty Friday to bear baiting and was sentenced to six days in jail. As part of the deal, charges against others were dropped.
