SEATTLE — A Bothell man was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison Thursday after admitting he spent years trafficking in child pornography.
Donald McCoy Jr., 53, in December pleaded guilty to a half-dozen federal crimes. He has been locked up since October 2016, when federal agents and local police converged on his home along 231st Street SE.
McCoy was tracked down in an undercover investigation by the Seattle Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He admitted creating pornography between 2005 and 2013 involving girls between the ages of 6 and 13.
He also admitted sharing the images online while also amassing a digital collection that included 1,000 videos and 6,000 images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to court papers.
U.S. District Court Judge James L. Robart said McCoy’s sentence was intended to remove him “from society so he cannot do this anymore,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
