EVERETT — A man was shot and police were searching for a woman after an altercation Wednesday morning in north Everett.
“We located some evidence that has been collected … that will hopefully lead us to the identity of the suspect,” officer Aaron Snell said.
A backpack believed to belong to the suspect was left behind at the scene. No description of the woman was provided as of Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting was reported about 6:45 a.m. on a sidewalk in the 2300 block of Colby Avenue. The location is near an apartment building, about a block north of Everett High School.
The victim was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and is expected to survive. As of mid-morning, he had not yet been interviewed by detectives. His condition was not provided.
Detectives also were talking to potential witnesses, Snell said.
There was no connection between the violence and nearby Everett High School, he said. Some school activities were affected by the police presence, and students initially were asked to stay in the gym or on their buses, which were diverted to Memorial Stadium.
Later, the Everett School District lifted the lockdown and classes resumed. Some north end buses were delayed.
No additional information was provided Wednesday.
