MILL CREEK — The city of Mill Creek has hired a director of Public Works and Development Services who is scheduled to start Nov. 1.
The incoming director, Gina Hortillosa, has been working for Snohomish County since 2014 as a program supervisor for the Transportation Improvement Program. Before that, Hortillosa worked in Kirkland for 10 years, managing work on major arterials, bridges, sidewalk improvements and charging stations for electric vehicles. She also has been a civil engineer in the private sector.
The new director will manage the city’s recently combined planning and public works functions, including a staff of about a dozen people.
Mill Creek City Manager Rebecca Polizzotto said Hortillosa will be responsible for creating strategic infrastructure plans for the coming decades to promote economic growth and efficient land use.
