BEND, Ore. — The Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission votes Jan. 25 on whether to grant scenic status to a 36-miles bicycle route between Bend and Tumalo.

If approved, it would be the fourth state scenic bikeway in central Oregon.

The Bulletin reports Bicycle Rides Northwest is offering to donate nearly $6,000 for 32 signs to mark the route through Deschutes County. Riders will pass through ponderosa pines and sagebrush while catching views of mountains.
