EVERETT — City officials say they are not considering allowing any safe injection sites in Everett at this point. There has been intense discussion in other parts of Western Washington in recent months regarding the sites, which are sanctioned spots where drug users are allowed to inject.
Councilwoman Brenda Stonecipher asked about the issue at a committee meeting Wednesday. She was told Everett is waiting to see how it plays out elsewhere, if other cities allow the sites and what happens.
“Right now, we don’t know enough about them,” said Hil Kaman, the Everett’s public health and safety director.
