No hitchhiking on Stevens Pass

WENATCHEE — The state Transportation Department has expanded a no-hitchhiking zone to six miles on Stevens Pass for safety reasons.

KPQ reports some back country skiers and snowboarders have followed avalanche chutes to U.S. 2 and hitched rides.

Drivers who stop in a no-hitchhiking zone risk a $124 ticket.
