Granite Falls: City Council retreat planned for Saturday
The Granite Falls City Council has scheduled a special meeting and budget retreat for Saturday.
The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. at the Granite Falls Library, 815 E. Galena St.
The 2010 budget, an extension of Galena Street and sidewalks on Alder Avenue are among the agenda items. The council also is scheduled to decide whether to authorize Mayor Lyle Romack to hire a negotiator for union contracts.

Marysville: Senior health seminar on Tuesday
The Ken Baxter Senior-Community Center is offering a free presentation Tuesday on nutritional needs for people age 60 and up. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the center, 514 Delta Ave. Register at least 24 hours in advance.
Ways to use nutrition to improve energy, vitality and overall health will be discussed. The presentation is being done in conjunction with the Northwest Center for Optimal Health, a Marysville medical clinic.

Stanwood: Oktoberfest fundraiser set for Oct. 2
Stanwood Community and Senior Center offers its annual Oktoberfest Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at the center, 7430 276th St. NW, Stanwood.
Proceeds from the event support the programs and services at the center.
The event includes a meal of bratwurst, sauerkraut, sweet and sour cabbage, German potato salad, green beans, rolls, beer, wine or soda and a variety of German desserts.
Music will be provided by Hugo’s Accordion Band.
Tickets are $10 or $5 for those 12 and younger.
