Northwest Briefly: Coast Guard looks for owner of bike left on ferry

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is looking for the owner of a bicycle left on the Washington state ferry Puyallup after a Tuesday evening sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge.

The blue and green Kona, left with a gray helmet, was found at 6:10 p.m. when the ferry pulled into Bainbridge.

Seattle shooting victim recovering

Seattle police said a 60-year-old man wounded in a shooting in the Capitol Hill neighborhood is expected to survive.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired after 3 a.m. Tuesday found the victim who was hit in the back and the legs. The man was able to describe the shooter.

Castle Rock: Alcohol stolen

Police in the southwest Washington community of Castle Rock said burglars who forced a rear door at the Oasis Tavern stole about $13,000 worth of alcohol.

Also taken in the Sunday morning heist were about 600 karaoke CDs, Lottery scratch tickets, and Bud Light and Miller Light Beer signs.

Vancouver, Wash.: Jug of nutshells prompts evacuation

A jug spray-painted black and bearing a skull and crossbones prompted Vancouver fire officials to evacuate a building housing several businesses. Nearby streets were also temporarily blocked off Tuesday morning.

The jug also bore the phrase “Don’t open under any circumstances.”

A Vancouver Fire Department spokesman said the jug was full of nutshells.
