Stanwood
City to vote on county tech services
The city’s computer and network systems would continue to be maintained by Snohomish County technicians if the City Council approves a $42,966 agreement.
The council is scheduled to vote on the agreement at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood-Camano School District Administration Building at 26920 Pioneer Highway.
The city started working with the Snohomish County Information Services Department two years ago. As the city’s technology needs became more complex, it became cheaper to outsource the work to the county.
The proposed agreement spells out services the county plans to provide, as well as maintenance schedules for the city’s 31 computers.
Finances get boost from growth
The city’s finances were in good shape at the end of 2007, according to a report from the Stanwood Finance Committee.
Stanwood City Council members plan to review the report during their meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood-Camano School District Administration Building at 26920 Pioneer Highway.
The received $4,919,359 in the general fund through 2007, up from the $464,725 that had been expected at the start of the year. Meanwhile, expenditures for the year were less than expected, according to the report.
The extra revenue was from sales taxes and permit fees from new construction, as well as tax revenue from new utility customers.
Contract extension up for deputies
Law enforcement in Stanwood would still be handled by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office under a three-year agreement up for a vote this week by the City Council.
The City Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood-Camano School District Administration Building at 26920 Pioneer Highway.
Under the agreement, the city would pay the county about $1.27 million this year, $1.31 million in 2009 and $1.35 million in 2010. The county has been providing police services in Stanwood for nine years.
