EDMONDS — When two customers were told Subway ran out of a sandwich topping they wanted, one of them allegedly jumped the counter, frightening the clerk.
The man and woman ran out of the Edmonds restaurant around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers saw a black truck speed out of the parking lot near 238th Street SW and Highway 99.
Police said the clerk was frantic. She had been robbed the week before, said Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley.
Another officer who was heading to the restaurant spotted the truck, which quickly turned off the highway, Hawley said. Police followed for more than a mile and tried to stop the vehicle.
The truck eventually crashed into a power pole at about 20 mph, causing a power outage for many in Shoreline.
The man was arrested on suspicion of eluding police. He also had a $35,000 warrant for a domestic-violence offense, Hawley said.
The woman was arrested for allegedly threatening the clerk.
