Pair held following Machias barricade incident

MACHIAS — No one was hurt during a brief frenzy of police activity in the Machias area Thursday night.

About 6:30 p.m., police surrounded a house in the 17400 block of Ok Mill Road, between Machias and Lake Roesiger, for reports of an argument and shots fired, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

A man in his 40s briefly barricaded himself inside the house but surrendered without incident.

Police were still investigating late Thursday night but had detained a couple of people and were searching the house, Ireton said.

“At this point, we do not believe a crime has been committed,” Ireton said.
