GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A kayaker who flipped on the Rogue River was lucky that two people who floated by knew what to do.
Jeronimo Gil and Matt Hill told the Grants Pass Daily Courier that they were floating the river Sunday when they saw some people trying to get the kayaker out of his boat, where he had been hanging upside-down in the water.
They got him in Gil’s raft, where Hill gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while Gil rowed to the Galice Resort.
Gil is trained as an emergency medical technician and lives in Redondo Beach, Calif. Hill is a Grants Pass dentist.
The kayaker’s name was not released. Gil says he revived enough to say his name and was taken to a hospital.
