LYNNWOOD — A man was arrested after a seven-hour standoff with police and a SWAT team.
Police were called to a home on the 6700 block of 190th St. SW after a 48-year-old man reportedly threatened his parents with a knife after they refused to give him money.
The parents were able to call 911 and police got them out safely. The man then barricaded himself inside the home, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
The police and SWAT team surrounded the home and evacuated people living in the neighborhood for safety reasons, Sessions said.
After 8 p.m., the man tried to sneak off when police confronted him. A police dog stopped him, Sessions said.
He was arrested under charges of felony harassment and threatening to kill, she said.
The man is known by the Lynnwood police. He is a convicted felon and has current felony warrants for his arrest, Sessions said.
