OLYMPIA — Police say a chase that led to a Ferrari racing at 100 mph through downtown Olympia before crashing into a parked car and a home began when an officer saw the car traveling at 50 mph in the city.
Police reports say a terrified male passenger who accepted a ride from the Ferrari driver, then called 911 to say the driver wouldn’t let him out, finally jumped from the car when it momentarily slowed Sunday night. The passenger suffered minor injuries.
The Olympian reports police arrested 42-year-old Joseph Shaun Goodman. The man reportedly is a 2013 graduate of Thurston County’s DUI court, which allows those who complete the program to have a DUI charge dismissed.
In court Monday, a Thurston County judge ordered Goodman held for investigation of false imprisonment, felony eluding and felony DUI. Bail was set at $75,000.
Goodman’s lawyer Paul Strophy said his client is a local business owner and a devoted father of two daughters.
