MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A two-car crash on I-5 near Mountlake Terrace slowed traffic late Thursday. A police dog was deployed to search for one of the drivers.
Only minor injuries were reported.
It happened just after 9:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Highway 104.
A car reportedly was speeding when it crashed into a sport utility vehicle, said Travis Shearer, a trooper with the Washington State Patrol. The car then struck a barrier. When it came to rest, the driver took off. He was not found and is wanted on suspicion of hit-and-run. No description of him was available.
His passenger was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries initially believed to be more serious.
The SUV, meanwhile, flipped over. The woman driving it was arrested for investigation of DUI, Shearer said.
Lanes on both-sides of the freeway were shut down during the police dog track and while investigators took measurements.
