Police seek help to find luring suspect

LAKE STEVENS — Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies are seeking information about a man who attempted to lure a girl south of Lake Stevens May 21.

The girl, 14, was walking near the 1700 block of 114th Ave SE at about 6 p.m. that day when she noticed a white van with blue stripes following her.

The girl told deputies that the van pulled in front of her and blocked her path, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

He then asked the girl where she was going and if she needed a ride.

The girl became frightened and ran from the area, Ireton said. She also reported that it appeared as if the driver took a photo of her with a cell phone.

The driver was described as heavy-set and in his late 40s with brown hair, glasses, a mustache and a blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the incident or the driver is asked to contact the sheriff’s office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
