SEATTLE — Visitors to the annual Archaeology Day at the Burke Museum in Seattle will be able to try their hand with a prehistoric spear-throwing tool called the atlatl.
The museum gave a preview demonstration this week. Program manager Steve Denton told The Seattle Times that it increases a spear’s speed and distance. It dates back to when mastodons were hunted.
Archaeology Day is Jan. 4 at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture on the University of Washington campus in Seattle.
