Seattle officer in serious condition after crash

SEATTLE — A Seattle police officer is in serious condition after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a power pole.

The Seattle Police Department says the accident occurred early Saturday morning. Officials say they aren’t sure why the officer lost control of his vehicle and they are working to reconstruct the events. The force of the crash sheared the power pole off at the base, and the vehicle then struck three unoccupied cars before coming to rest against a tree.

The unnamed officer was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
