50 years ago (1964)
A one-person show of watercolors by Le Scott of Everett as to open this week at Black and King Galleries. Formerly a sculptor, her works had been shown in San Francisco’s Legion of Fine Art and various galleries in Carmel, California. Her present show had California scenes as well as local scenes.
Everett Parks Department today was preparing plans to restore Edgewater Playfield after a new sewer installation went in beneath the play area. The work contemplated would enlarge the popular recreational spot and entailed a new lawn, restored fencing, new backstop and repaving.
25 years ago (1989)
Nancy Reedy held six-year-old Nick Dickerson high so he could pick that sweetest and ripest blackberry near 37th Street and Rucker Avenue last weekend. Reedy, who was watching Nick and his sister, Brandi, for the day, thought berry picking would be a good way to keep the children busy. She added that she had been raised on blackberries.
Snohomish County Council approved $54,000 that would go toward developing Rotary Park along the Lowell-Snohomish River Road, 92nd Street Park adjacent to the Mukilteo Speedway and Marysville’s Hickok Park playground.
