Lt. Edward Klein, son of Ruth Klein, 721 Laurel Drive, was undergoing Air Force pilot training at Reese Air Force Base, Texas. He was a graduate of the University of Washington where he trained in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Patti Clawson, senior at Cascade High School this fall, won the Snohomish County Evergreen Fair journalism contest for her work on the fair’s program, Manager Robert H. Follis announced today. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Clawson Jr., 2121 74th Street, she would received a $50 bond during the fair’s Sunday night program.
25 years ago (1989)
Everett police tactical unit member Sgt. Dan O’Neill rappelled down a practice tower with his MP-5 assault rifle at the police department’s practice range near Forest Park. The tactical unit relied on extensive practice to prepare members for a variety of dangerous emergencies.
Don Hall of Lynnwood won the $600 prize in the inaugural Coors Salmon Derby with a 34-pound, 10-ounce king salmon. Weigh-in was at Sea Charters in the Everett Marina. The derby took place in local waters.
