50 years ago (1964)
Because of steadily increasing business, Herfy’s Drive-In was starting construction on a second business location at 5100 Claremont Way. The original Herfy’s was at 2030 Broadway. Bill and Anna Lucas and Fred Schmidt were partners in the venture that featured fast service, low cost and high quality for volume.
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Intercity Church of the Nazarene would be held tomorrow at the new church site, 9205 Emander Road. The Rev. J. Dudley would be among those officiating. The public was invited to join with members of the congregation in getting the new edifice under way.
25 years ago (1989)
Priscilla Sigfrinius prepared hamburgers for volunteers who were working on a large remodeling job to prepare the family home for her husband, Mark Sigfrinius, due home from the hospital next month. The Seattle police officer was paralyzed by a gunshot May 15.
Carolyn Allendoerfer, a former teacher and volunteer in the Mukilteo School District, announced her candidacy for the Mukilteo School Board. Allendoerfer said her emphasis would be on maintaining and enhancing the district’s programs and staff during a time of unprecedented growth.
