50 years ago (1964)
Myrtle Ferrell was saluted by Alpha Phi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma last week, when she became an honorary member of the society at the second anniversary banquet and initiation at Cedarcrest Country Club. It was in recognition for her many years of distinguished service to the community and state.
The public was cordially invited to the premier showing of Glacier Vista, 3319 Colby Ave., tomorrow. The 24 one- and two-bedroom units had wall-to-wall carpets, colored G.E. kitchen appliances, colored bath fixtures, draperies and decks or patios. There was an elevator and covered parking.
25 years ago (1989)
The state Department of Ecology had taken steps that might lead to cleaning up the polluted Everett harbor, a job that could cost various government and privates businesses millions of dollars. It would probably take three years to have a preferred course of action.
Steelhead near Index found a fitting friend. Two weeks ago, Wayne Lewis parked his Sedan de Ville in a clearing near the bank of the Skykomish looking to commune with the enveloping wealth of nature. He found it and was now tending a holding pool of 10,000 steelhead fingerlings.
