50 years ago (1964)
Bill Verhoeven and Doug Gunwall looked on as Buck Olsen did a handstand during a practice session for tonight’s Everett School District’s gym show in the Civic Auditorium.The boys from Everett High and others from Cascade High and North, South and Evergreen junior high schools were performing.
As a benefit for a scholarship fund, several groups would be heard in a barbershop songfest in the Marysville High School’s cafetorium. Among the groups were the Four-Do-Matics, Journeymen of Eugene, Roaring Twenty-Four, Four Everettes, Cross Towners, Lake Washington Skippers and Marysville’s Gaslighters.
25 years ago (1989)
Memorial services were planned at First Presbyterian Church for former Everett pharmacist Stanton J. Hall, who recently died at age 96. Hall graduated from Washington State College in 1912 and was on the school’s board of regents from 1949 to 1959. He was also on the Everett Junior College Advisory Board.
Bickford Motors proudly announced Ed Arnold as their featured employee of the month. He was a welcome addition of the service department staff and brought with him a vast amount of automotive knowledge with over 40 years experience.
