Nancy Ann Kalanquin was engaged to Don H. Oliver, son of Mrs. Elise Oliver, of Kenmore, and the late Herbert Oliver, announced her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Kalanquin, of Everett. She was a senior at Everett High School and her fiance was a 1961 graduate of Bothell High School.
Everett High School students attending a DECA Leaders Conference in Yakima were Diane Little, Wendy Heum, Barb Gacke, Joan Buse, Pam Monette, Jan Eshe, Carol Harstad, Sandy Slosson, Jane Bratt, Hugh Matheson, Dave Swanson, Gary Casperson, Bruce Williams, Mike McNiven, Ted Parry and Judy Clough.

The 10 worst areas of congestion by volume of traffic in the county were the Freeway Freeze in south county, the High-Tech Tie-Up on I-405, the North Creek Knot, the South Everett Slowdown, the Trestle Tangle, the Lake Stevens Snarl, the Lynnwood Lineup, the Ballinger Backup, the Broadway Brake Test and the Marysville Muddle.
Lakewood High School senior Jason Delestrez aimed a spring-loaded cannon in the trajectory competition at the Olympia at Everett Community College. Teams from 17 state high schools came to pit brains and lab skills in 20 different science-related contests. Lonnie Puthan was the competition director.
