50 years ago (1964)
Frank Cooper, past exalted ruler of Everett Elks Lodge and author of an Alaskan Elks relief plan, discussed with Harry Botesch, another past exalted ruler, the good that might come for the move. The local Elks had voted to send $1,000 to the Alaska State Elks Assn. to aid lodges whose homes might have been damaged by the recent earthquake.
Pete Hubreth was elected president of the Marysville Junior chamber of Commerce at its annual meeting. Hubreth was a Scott Paper employee. Elected to serve with him were Charles Savage, Jim Powell, Eugene Stock, Dick Hereth and directors Ven Ledford, John Macdonald and Larry Lane. Dick Staats was elected state director and Charles Pilon was ex-officio past president.
25 years ago (1989)
Glenn Gelhar had been appointed as administrator at the Everett Family Practice Center. He was responsible for supervision of nursing, radiology and personnel staff, in addition to marketing and business management.
Laura Leuze of Lake Goodwin was named customer service manager of the Heights branch for First Interstate Bank of Washington. She most recently was customer service manager at the Pacific Avenue Branch.
