50 years ago (1964)
Mary Larson, Everett High Schools senior and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Larson, 3701 Rockefeller Ave., accepted a National Good Grooming Week ribbon from Larry Porter of Valetor Cleaners.
Richard Y. Yoder, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. West, Rt. 1 Snohomish and a junior at the University of Washington, last week was named vice president of the Associated Students of the university. A political science major, he had been on the ASB Board of Control this past year.
25 years ago (1989)
This Saturday, thanks to the generosity of a dozen McDonalds in the area, people had an opportunity to help the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County. Proceeds from meals would go building or remodeling facilities in Everett, Monroe, Mukilteo, Alderwood Manor and Arlington.
A stop sign that had fallen off the 270th St. pole in Stanwood tickled the mischievous instincts of local teens Kael Barnhart and Jim Allen. Figuring passing motorists could use help remembering to stop, they held up the sign. Barnhart thought about taking the sign home for a minute, but his conscience put a stop to that.
