50 years ago (1964)
Terri Michelle Cummins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cummins, 1416 Stock Show Road, was a year old today. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Keller, of Everett, and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Cummins, of Snohomish.
The Associated Student Body of Sultan High School paid off in full a $6,500 debt, culminating a drive of only a year and a half, according to Superintendent Ernest Ludwick Jr. The drive was led by Richard Schalo and Gary MacDicken, student body presidents for 1963 and 1964 respectively.
25 years ago (1989)
Ben Heidecker was selected as customer engineer for the Snohomish County PUD. He was responsible for designing new construction or modified electrical services to customers. Heidecker previously managed and coordinated all duties in the PUD’s heat pump program.
Nathan Hess, 11, had made many discoveries exploring the forest behind his Sultan Basin home, but none was quite as exciting as the shredded remnants of a balloon and a weathered scrap of paper hanging from a tree. It carried a message from Lucile Dickerman, 92, of Bainbridge Island. Nathan and his Sultan classmates wrote letters to her.
