Mildred Simpson was the only Everett incumbent that won in yesterday’s election. She was the finance commissioner. A.F. “Bud” Alexander was the new mayor as well as commissioner of safety. A.C. “Jerry” Krekow was the new commissioner of public works.
Dealer Art Stevenson and his Flying A service station at 2934 Hoyt Avenue were featured in the March issue of Flying A News, Tidewater Oil Co.’s national publication for its 10,000 service station dealers. Stevenson was cited for winning third place in Tidewater’s recent sales contest.
25 years ago (1989)
Volunteers were doing a good turn for a tern. Diverse groups gathered together to spend a little money and some effort to give Mother Nature a boost on Jetty Island. The work was an experiment to see if wide-ranging birds would re-establish nesting habits on the island during spring and summer months.
Brother and sister Adam Nemra, 4, and Megan Nemra, 3, enjoyed having their dad, Korap Nemra, spin them on the merry-go-round ride in Jennings Park in Marysville. Now that temperatures were on the rise people were beginning to show up at area parks between rain showers.
