Attending construction engineer foreman school at Fort Belvoir, Va., was Pvt. Dale R. Pope, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Pope of 5709 West Drive. Pvt. Pope entered the Army the previous August and received his basic training at Fort Ord, Calif.
The Snohomish County Agricultural Center elected the following offers: Ernest H. Washburn, president; John Klein, vice president; and C.C. Liefer, secretary-treasurer. Directors were Perry Black, John Spada, L.C. Smith, J.A. Norway, Milford Carr, John Hilton and J.C. Carpenter.
Serving up a portion of live jazz in Everett High School Little Theater at 24th Street and Hoyt Avenue was the Bill Smith Trio with guest trumpeter Floyd Standifer. Smith played the clarinet, Dan Dean the electric bass and Tom Collier drums and vibes. Music would be played to color-slide visuals created by Everett Community College photography students.
The Rev. Eugene Born, pastor of Bethany Temple of the Assembly of God, was to speak at the Lenten luncheon in the YMCA auditorium. The service was sponsored by the ministers and the YMCA each Friday during the six weeks of Lent, preceding Holy Week.
