50 years ago (1963)
The United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary elected new officers. Frances Niles was chosen president. Other new officers included Pearl Eva Smith, Bertha Belle Judy, Maude Dinwiddie, Beulah Ryder, Jessie Wieber, Ann Ferguson, Geraldine Brickman, Bertha Neff, Edith French, Minnie Smith and Kissie Porter.
A Back To Dance School party was held at the Betty Spooner School of the Dance. Those performing included Gayle Anderson, Larry Strom, Lisa Strom, Janice Mooney, Claudia Gilleland, Julie Knudsen, Jean Gower and Mike Bebout. Debbie Martin assisted at the punch bowl.
25 years ago (1988)
Lois Thompson Waller, a member of Everett High School’s Class of 1914, was “Queen for a Day” at the school’s 60th reunion of the class of 1928 in August. There were 55 grads and 59 guests on hand for the event, held at Nendel’s Motor Inn.
Amby Schultz was the new president of the Komo Kulshan chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, and Lois Thompkins was named secretary-treasurer of the chapter, which included an area north of Seattle to the Canadian border.
