Floral Hall at Everett’s Forest Park was overflowing with 2,500 lacy dahlias this weekend at the Snohomish County Dahlia society show, W.H. Caldwell, chairman, said today. Janet Lindstrom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lindstrom, veteran exhibitors from the Fobes area, found the blooms to be quite gorgeous this year.
Andrea Lee Hern, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray M. Hern, Rt. 4 Arlington, had completed 10 weeks of basic training at the U.S. Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Md., and was graduated during a military review. The local Wave, would spend a 14-day leave with her parents before reporting to the U.S. Naval Air Station, Lemoore, Calif.
25 years ago (1988)
Vice President George Bush was at Paine Field this week hoping to woo county voters in his bid for the presidency. Last week, Kitty Dukakis, wife of presidential hopeful Michael Dukakis, spoke in Edmonds with senior citizens. The election was getting into full swing.
Edmonds residents Dave and Diana Dailey were both teachers, but when school began this year, Dave was in the classroom, while Diana was in Nepal to climb the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. He was also an experienced climber.
