50 years ago (1964)

Geri Woltring displayed the new membership plaque to Bill Moore and Stu Aldcroft during a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce’s new Ambassadors committee. The group was formulating plans for expanding membership for the coming year. Tom Clement was director of the Membership Relations Division.

Don Pringle announced the moving of Pringle Studio at 2506 Colby Ave. several doors south of its present location to 2512 Colby Ave. to acquire added space for an opportunity to offer his customers better and faster service. The new site would have over 50 percent more floor space and feature a new color plant.

25 years ago (1989)

Steve Watkins, a Russian teacher at Mariner High School and Olympic View Junior High School, recently spearheaded an exchange between students at Mariner and students at a secondary school in Tallinn, the capital of the Soviet republic of Estonia.

A meet record in the 100-yard breaststroke by defending champion Blake Miller of Edmonds highlighted the qualifying competition at the state Class AA-A swimming and diving championships at the University of Washington pool. The junior was timed at 59.86 seconds.
